I would like to build a new budget PC and give my old PC(P4 with 512 DDR333) to my daughter (3 years old) for games.

As budget friendly as possible is the goal. I have been buying parts when they have been extremely Hot Deals. Its time for Processor, Mainboard, and Memory selections. I would like you all to review and give suggestions.

I also run at stock speeds and don't overclock.

Will be used for:
Internet, Email, Productivity Apps (Word, Excel), MP3's, video, and pictures archival. No Gaming.

Parts I have:

Samsung 17 LCD flat panel
Two 300 Gig SATA drive
DVD Burner
Coolermaster Case
450 Watt Powersupply
MS Natural Ergonomic 4000 Keyboard/Mouse.
Windows Vista Ultimate (Compusa Closeout Deal). I also have a licensed copy of XP Pro I can put on it.
I Also have a ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 512 DDR2 PCI Express Video Card.

I read the recent Anandtech Article on the massive processor price cuts and how Intel/AMD stacked up price performance wise. However, the sub $150 review would be coming out later.

Without the review..Here's what I was thinking about purchasing from Newegg. Please Critique.

Go with the ATI /AMDCombo. ATI/AMD is doing much better at supporting their products for some time now than nVidia - you will be happier with this purchase. buy a cheaper case. You said this is a budget build, buy a budget case. It won't make it goes faster no matter what case you settle on. You also have room to get a cheaper power supply, say 350 to 400W range as your componants will not stress at all a 450W PSU.

Thanks Baloo.

I expected to get a lot feedback that I should get an Intel Chip. I think the AMD board and 2Gigs Memory should handle Vista and give a solid 2-3 years.

Any other suggestions out there?
