Perhaps you are jealous because you've never had a close same-gender friend.

Don't you have anything better to do than contemplate the sexual orientation of fictional characters?

I think that it's getting to the point that whenever I see a buddy movie I always think that the two guys involved are closeted homosexuals that are star crossed lovers that try so hard to hide their raging mutual lust while experiencing many hilarious misadventures.. I mean, this dates back to the lethal weapon series but sometimes it's just bizarre..Like The two towers.. OK, that's not a typical buddy movie.. But still. I was positive that sam and frodo were going to get it on but couldn't because gullom was always around.. end of rant..

sigh.
They're not gay, never were, never were written to be.
Sam's a simple devoted servant to his master, who loves him deeply.
It's a sad commentary on both masculinity and literacy that thier relationship is so often misinterpreted.
The relationships of men in adolescence and of those who endure shared hardships, (like war), are often represented, (and rightly), as similar to the emotional commitment of marriage or the like.

*Chuckles* Yes, I have to agree there! When you had that whole "I'm your Sam" scene at the end there, I was waiting for the big Hobbit kiss 😀 Come on! Try watching that again and telling me it doesn't look like they're about to lip lock right there.Originally posted by: freedomsbeat212

The loving and faithful servant is not a common archetype in the US as it maybe or was in the UK.
