You guys.... (It's a tough crowd)

Actually, I've added 3 processors now from yesterday. Not even a flicker.

Sheesh... they never miss a beat.

ok - so one of 'em is only a PPRO 200 running Klinux

The other two are PII-400's in a dualie Proliant 3000 server.

I've got a 600/900 Duron sitting here and a 600/950 Duron just waiting for mobo's now. :)

The funny thing is I use oil heat in my house. Although since I started
adding machines at home, I use less oil. I think I can honestly say
I used electric heat now.

My hat is off to you and your relentless pursuit to more blocks.

I've been wondering about power requirements recently. I finished off my basement last year and added two 20 amp circuits (the main is 200 amps). How many computers could I run safely if I wanted to have a LAN party? That would mean including monitors and speakers. Anybody more knowledgeable in this area than I that might know the answer?

Boberfett,
I may not be an electrical engineer, but working theatre lighting, I know plenty about (not) blowing breakers. To figure out if you'd have enough juice, use the simple calculation of West Virginia (W VA), or Watts = Volts * Amperage. Convert that to Amperage = Watts / Volts and you've got how much amperage you'll use with the LAN party in full swing. Big tip though, ALWAYS be pessimistic about power requirements, use 110 for your voltage, try not to exceed 80% load on a breaker, etc. Keep those in mind and you hopefully won't have to call the electrician just as the party is about to get in full swing.

BoberFett, figure 2 amps per system for a LAN party. Assuming typical equipment, if somebody rolls in with theater level equipment you might want to run extra lines :D

You're right. You ought to see my Christmas lights display this year. Think I should invite my next door neighbor over to see it if he is paying for it? :)
