The prosecutor said police found a semi-automatic gun, ammunition and ?items used to bind? his alleged victims at his apartment in Quincy during a search last night.

Hickman also said at today?s arraignment in Boston Municipal Court that an IP address (showing the defendant?s Internet provider) led cops to Markoff?s Quincy apartment.

don't give me that innocent before guilty bs, since i'm not in the jury, that's not binding to me.... he did it, and should be put away for life in MA.

This morning Markoff's fiancée, Megan McAllister, defended him in an email she sent to ABC News, according to Good Morning America's website.

"Unfortunately you were given wrong information as was the public," McAllister wrote in the email. "All I have to say to you is Philip is a beautiful person inside and out and could not hurt a fly! A police officer in Boston (or many) is trying to make big bucks by selling this false story to the TV stations. What else is new?? Philip is an intelligent man who is just trying to live his life so if you could leave us alone we would greatly appreciate it. We expect to marry in August and share a wonderful, meaningful life together."

I think ABC was duped into thinking it was her, lol. :D

Anyhow, what I find remarkable is that police traced his IP address to his computer at home. This guy may be smart enough to be a doctor, but he's elmer fudd as far as technology is concerned.

Many schools have 2 year undergrad + 4 year professional school accelerated programs.
My school had that for pharmacy, medicine, and dentistry.

There's nothing special about that. I know many people(including me) who started those schools at a lower age than that.
Why waste more time in undergrad than you have to? I don't care about having a Bachelors.

Kind of a double edged sword though. Gotta be really sure you wanna do medicine as a HS senior. Plus dont these programs lock you into that specific program? So you couldnt apply the top schools

If you're not really sure what you want to do, then you shouldn't be going to college.

The "lock in" isn't really that bad as it's made out to be.
I know a few friends who graduated last year and they're at Harvard, and Cleveland clinic doing their residency.
Another one I know graduating this year is considering Stanford's recidency programs.

You can go to a shit medical school (read: Howard University), and still end up with a good residency.
You don't need to go to Duke(or some other top/mid tier medical program) to get into a good residency program.
Of course not, but it doesnt hurt to be coming from a top tier med school either.

I dont agree with the "If you're not really sure what you want to do, then you shouldn't be going to college." philosophy. When I entered college I was interested in all kinds things and taking college level courses really let me explore those interests to see what I really liked. I know plenty of smart kids that were orignially premed but decided they enjoyed something else a lot more and became successful there.

I didn't think about that, but you'd think that AVC would verify their source. If that is true, then that explains exactly how they are engaged...

He sounds like a classic psychopath. Killing hookers cold heartedly and maintaining a believable facade in public.

I don't have problem with people who start with something and change to something else.
What I do have a problem with is people who start with the "undecided" stance, or "going to college to discover yourself" crowd.
Even worse are those who remain undecided for 2-3 years in undergrad. What are they going to college for?

You can start with a "decided" path and still explore those options.
Those smart kids you knew were smart for choosing a major to begin with rather than going to college as undecided.

Innocent until proven guilty.

That is only in court. He is already guilty on the internet.

See: OJ Simpson

I haven't seen enough evidence to judge one way or the other, and I don't particularly care to seek it out. At some point I may see enough evidence to judge whether I believe he's guilty or not, and it doesn't really matter if I judge him guilty before it's proven in court, because I'm not going to be on his jury.

Sources: Craigslist suspect kept victims' underwear as mementos

Police searching the Quincy apartment of Philip Markoff found underwear from two of the victims in the Craigslist attacks and a handgun hidden in a hollowed out copy of the medical textbook Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation.

The underpants were described as "mementos" from the crimes, according to another law enforcement official, who also spoke on the condition of anonymity. It was not known from which victims the garments were taken, the officials said. Investigators are testing the gun to determine whether the semi-automatic weapon was used to fatally shoot a 26-year-old masseuse last week at the Boston Marriott Copley Place.

I wonder if the fiancee had any clue? It seems hard to hide something like this... disappear for hours then come back in the middle of the night smelling of blood, sweat and gun powder residue

naw, after he killed that girl he went gambling and won $5300..... the cigarette smoke probably masked it.

fiancee is probably doing what a medical student suppose to do... not gamble or robbing people in hotels.... from the picture... she's got a killer body (and a killer boyfriend).

it will be interesting to see his lawyers try to get him out of this. if the zip tie doesn't fit you must acquit?

Perhaps if it was a single crime it would be easier to play with in court, but that's obviously not the case here.

Markoff's fiancée calls off the wedding

Hiding her face in large, dark glasses and holding her mother's hand, Megan McAllister walked silently out the Nashua Street Jail on Wednesday evening after a 25-minute conversation with her fiancé, Philip Markoff.

By early yesterday afternoon, she was on the Massachusetts Turnpike, driving back to New Jersey with her parents, according to her lawyer, Robert Honecker Jr.

"I don't expect her to return to Boston to see him," Honecker said during a telephone interview.

During her short time in Boston, McAllister picked up some belongings she had left at the Quincy apartment she once shared with Markoff, a 23-year-old Boston University medical student who has been charged with killing a masseuse he allegedly met via Craigslist.

She also visited Markoff at the jail, where he is being held without bail pending his trial. Honecker did not disclose what they said to each other, but one thing was certain: Their wedding in August was off.

The wedding was called off in part, Honecker said, because Markoff probably will still be incarcerated when it was scheduled to have taken place. Most murder cases take about a year to get to trial.

Asked whether the wedding was canceled for other, personal reasons, Honecker said: "It's hard to say, you know. The wedding is off."

Honecker stopped short of disclosing whether the pair had split up, saying he did not know. But he conveyed a contrasting message to McAllister's passionate defenses of Markoff in the immediate aftermath of his arrest, when she insisted the marriage would go forward and they would "share a wonderful, meaningful life together."

"I think that this was a very emotional time for her," Honecker said. "But, in the end, I think this will put her in a place where she'll begin to accomplish other goals in her life and be well."

One of those goals will be to start medical school in the fall in the Caribbean, Honecker said.

"She's a young, bright, articulate young woman. She's a strong young woman as well," he said. "Can you imagine it happening to one of your relatives? I think a lot of people feel sensitive to that and for Megan."

McAllister remains supportive of Markoff, Honecker said, despite the alleged evidence that has been leaked to the media, including that the gun used to kill 25-year-old Julissa Brisman on April 14 showed a preliminary match to the gun found in Markoff's apartment. Markoff pleaded not guilty last week to charges that include armed robbery and murder.

The BU medical student, who has been suspended pending the charges, is accused of preying on prostitutes and other women who advertised services on Craigslist.

"I think that certainly what's been reported in the media is something that will ultimately be tested in a court of law," Honecker said. "And she certainly believes that the fate of Philip Markoff rests in that criminal justice system."

McAllister, who police said was in New Jersey when Brisman was killed, has not been called to testify before the grand jury weighing the case against Markoff.

"She has not been requested to do so," Honecker said. "She had absolutely nothing to do with these allegations."

Police seized at least one of Markoff's computers when investigators searched his apartment, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation.

The official, who was not authorized to discuss the case and spoke on the condition of anonymity, did not say what, if anything, investigators found on the computer.

Police continue to search for other possible victims who also might have been lured to hotel rooms through Craigslist. The office of Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley posted an ad on Craigslist asking people to come forward if they were attacked.

"I am not at liberty to say if anyone has come forward or how many, if any, have come forward," Conley said yesterday in a telephone interview.

No one has come forward since Markoff's arrest on April 20, the law enforcement official said.

As for McAllister, she plans to move on with her life, Honecker said.

"You have a young woman whose dreams of her life to be are no longer there," he said. "She's going to be taking it one day at a time."
