i just built a new rig im trying to install xp on it. it gets to the step where it says copying files and than each time i get a bsod for a different file. i have been trying to install for 5 days. any ideas?

I'd look at the drive setup. DMA settings, raid settings, drive temp, that sort of thing. Sounds like it may be having trouble getting the bits over to the disk.

Well I don't know what they are now. What I would do first is boot off the CD and get into the recovery console. You can run chkdisk from there and see what happens.

run memory tests, run hard drive tests after ensuring BIOS settings are correct. did you load appropriate SATA drivers? (if applicable).
