Ok am new here but I read through all the NV8 issues I saw and none of them seem to help me out. I just purchased a new build from Newegg for my wife. This is only the 3rd pc I have built, but it is also only the first one that has givin me problems. Here is the list of hardware she is running.

CASE-ROSEWILL|R114A

MB-ABIT NV8 NF4-4X 754

VGA-EVGA|GF 6800GS 256-P2-N386

PSU-ROSEWILL RP550-2

CPU-AMD|SEMPRON64 3100+

MEM-1G|CORSAIR XMS pc3200

HD-250GB|WD 7200RPM WD2500JD

OPT-SAMSUNG 16X DVDRom

After installing everything and formating the HD and installing windows it was fine. But it only lasted for about 3 or 4 days. Nothing is overclocked, everything has received updated drivers. Now the pc gets the BSOD at many different times of operation. Sometimes right after boot up, sometimes it will run for an hour, then bam, just goes to the BSOD and restarts. The BSOD does not stay on long enough for me to get the full code or anything. I am pretty sure I saw IRQL Error, But I am not positive. I have tried Clearing the CMOS and reinstalling everything back into the pc, to no avail. I have reformatted the HD and reinstalled Windows also to no avail. It is driving me nuts, and she is beginning to aswell. I need help.

Go into BIOS, see what voltage the RAM is running at.

Up it to between 2.6v to 2.8v.
Start small and work you way up.
try it - you might be lucky punk.

Well I tried to up the Voltage from 2.6 all the way up to 2.8 and every time I upped it the BSOD came faster. When I got up to 2.8 the BSOD came up right after windows finished loading, and I barely caught a glimpse of the blue screen. So no luck with that one.

try a lower voltage if a higher one excerbated the problem.
Also relax your RAM timings if you have hyped them up.

Ok, I didnt touch the RAM timings at all. I went all the way down to 2.5v and same thing, BSOD. But the lower I went the longer it took to come on. Still no more then maybe 2 or 3 minutes.

I also turned off the power to the pc and tried checking the temp on the Mem stick with my fingers and it was not hot. Unless I can get this thing to work right in the next couple hours, I will probably disassemble the whole thing and start over from scratch again. But please keep the ideas coming

Also in BIOS, I just noticed that the SATA HD and the DVD Rom drive are both in there as Master. I followed the instructions to a t. Both of them said to leave the jumper on master that they would be detected the way they were supposed to.

usually doesnt stay on long enough, actually dont you need a floppy drive. We do not have a working floppy drive in the house.

How do you get it to work, I burned the iso file on to a disc and tried it, nothing. I also went into bios and changed the boot order to start with the dvdrom drive and still no go.

1. make sure you burn the .iso as an image file - then try even discconnecting the hd you said there was a master issue

2.you can try this also, dissconnect all unneeded things, so you would have 1 stick of ram, hd and grahpics card nothing else, and see what happens then

3. with the abit boards the banks of the memory must either be 1, 2 or 4 bars of memory in them, if your running dual ranked bars in the first two banks only they must be set at ddr 333 speed in the bios.

EDIT: sorry i didnt look at your system specs, it appears you only have 1 bar of 1gb ram hrmm, try lowering the speed of it to 333 then but im not sure if that will matter.

I must be retarded, I cant get it to work, lol.

I ran BurnInTest this morning, everything passed except for the Dvdrom drive. It came up with an error code:1235

Everything else passed with that. I am also going to run prime95 tonight.

I ran Super Pi twice at 32M and both times it completed fine. I think I fixed the problem last night.
