BSOD error about unmountable boot drive size

A friend of mine is trying to install winxp on a 30gb HD on an KT7A-Raid mobo and is getting a BSOD error about unmountable boot size. What would be causing this error? Is it that the drive is being partioned properly?

Does XP have native drivers for that raid chipset? If not, you'll need to add the appropriate drivers during the initial text mode install (it should say to hit f6 to add a third party driver, it will then read it from the floppy drive). The behaviour your mentioning was exactly what I got before MS finally added the Promise raid drivers for XP final.
