Ummm, some motherboards require you to use only 1 stick of RAM in a specific slot. Are you doing that?

im a bit confused with what your saying

new things:
1. got windows up and got a few drivers
2. bsod at start of windows update
3. says i dont have usb drivers
4. when i boot in normal or safe mode it brings up the thing searhing for a file like it says it cant find "drmk.sys" and then gives me an option to look for it
5. I get drmk.sys error when installing drivers and a few other missing files when installing stuff

makin some strides here people thanks for your help all

now i got the drmk file from the xp cd and then it gives a pci.sys error sometimes

btw it cant find the usb controller which i find very wierd

if i read right, it was hauled home in a TRUNK!!!!!! you have probably damaged the heads on the hard drive going over bumps! you NEVER put a computer in the trunk of a car! borrow a hard drive and try another install....

i wanted to hold it in my lap...it was my friends dumbass dad that insisted it be in the trunk. Im starting to think its a HD error myself because i keep getting ntfs.sys errors and theres missing files

starting? i will almost 100% guarrantee its hd related.....show this to your friends dad and tell him he owes you a hard drive...that is the most idiotic thing i have heard of......ask any certified pc repair tech such as myself.....anywhere.....that is a huge mistake to haul it in a trunk! i am so mad right now and it isnt even my computer!!!!! you are going through all this bs when its almost 100% hard drive related to being hauled in a car trunk!!!!!! what an idiot that guy is! thats like putting your eggs on the bottom of the grocery bag and tossing in the can goods on top.....geeee they all broke...i dont know why? talk about a dumba$$..........ok ok ok....my rant is over.......for now....

yeah now im gettin invalid paremeters on everything i click

im goin to the kids house 2morow to make sure its the hd

im so pissed that i spent 20 hours tryin to fix it

Its not necessarily the hard drive man. Stop saying its 100% the hard drive. It MIGHT be but not 100%. I had similiar problems when installing and it was NOT my hard drive. Just chill out.

alpha, read the entire post, the damn tower was hauled in a car trunk! he has tried just about everything else........chill out yourself....

ok i did the western digital disk diag and it had 0 errors. I tried win2k and fat32 but still got all sorts of bsods during installation from a memory one to inaccesable device(?). I called up newegg.com and im gonna rma the mobo. should i rma the hd/ram as well even tho disk diag/memtest came out fine?is psu a possibility?(antec 430tru

i never trust the manufacturer disk diagnostics, seen them be wrong before too many times.....esp seagate and maxtor....so i still think its a hard drive, but a mb failure is a possibility as well....but i still think hard drive, have you tried another hard drive yet
?
