BSOD during POST?

So I sold 2 sticks of PC100 RAM to a person on FS/FT (whose identity will remain confidential).
He tests them and says that they cause his computer crash to a blue screen during POST, more specifically when it is doing the RAM check sequence.

I thought it was strange because:
1) I ran the same RAM in my motherboard recently just fine (but then again, certain motherboards are picky about memory, or it could've been damaged during shipping, although I packaged it decently well).
2) I thought the blue screen was a Windows thing.

His PM's are as follows:

One of the sticks does not work. I tried it in two different systems and it crashes both to the blue screen. LMK how you want to continue. Thanks.

It does not seem to register. The computer starts to boot up but before it 'counts' the ram it crashes to the blue scren.
I tried this in two seperate Dell systems with the same results. I don't have any elaborate setups to test it I just need the memory to run a PII 233 for my father.

Now, I have no reason not to trust him. That's not the point of this thread.
(I am requesting him return the RAM for me to test).
Just that out of my many years of PC building, I have not once seen a blue screen during POST caused by bad memory.
I thought the blue screen was a Windows implementation 😕

I may be wrong, but im pretty sure you cant get a BSOD during post either. If the ram didnt work, it just wouldnt work.

Interesting. The bluescreen may be from the bios software.

you cannot get a BSOD during, a bsod will only come if you get an AV or a seg fault or such after the kernel of windows has loaded, this guy is full of crap.

When ram doesnt work, it simply doesnt work. There is no screen that pops up, so far as I know.

Good question. I didn't ask.

But from the looks of it, probably some dell OEM mb that he doesn't know of.
Any suggestions on how I should deal with the situation if he is indeed not being honest (which I don't see a point arguing/lying over some old RAM).

make sure he didnt have registered or ecc ram mixed with regular stuff.
