BSOD - driver irq no less than blah blah

Im having this problem and have been for months. These crashes can be completely random and happen every few hours or they can happenonce a week. I get them all desktop, on internet, playing video games, listening to music...etc.

Does anyone know how to help me? Is there a program that will find this for me? Ive googled it and people say its graphic drivers but i get it when im in 2d mode and ive also tried 5 different driver versions... what else could this be?

Well, we need a bit more info to help you out...

What do you mean by crash? Does it BSOD, freeze, or reboot?

I wrote up a quick troubleshooting guide a while back in this forum. Just do a search for "Random Rebooting," and it should pop up.

You might take a second to read my webpage (read my .sig) and from there you can download the debugger, install it, and use it to figure out what is going wrong.... if you've got dumps in c:\windows\minidump, that will help you find the problem.

ok well i checked my log files... regardless of how many crashes i get... tehres only 1 dmp file with todays date why ?

When you analyzed the crash dump, what was the problem that caused it, according to the debugger?

GladiatorPotato didn't post that, I did. Somehow I logged into the forums as him, got asked for my mother's maiden name, keyed it in, and suddenly I was logged in as GP. I logged out then back in as myself, but I'll inform the mods of what's happened.

You need to set up symbols; see the part where you open the debugger, go to the File Menu, and set the symbol path. You need to do that part, create the correct directory on c:, and then you need to exit, choosing to save your settings (exactly as documented).

That will cause the symbol errors to go away, and will allow the debugger to correctly analyze your dump.

ok i googled those error codes and that processs and alot of poeple said it was memory and video drivers...

so i uninstalled ati drivers and im using nothin now.. i ran memtest and got an error so i moved my memory to another slot and it seems to be running fine now... is it possible that memory doesnt like 1 slot over the next?

ill run memtest over ngiht... if this stays up and running i will add my other stick into another slot and see what happens.. then install my video drivers

any suggestions ?

7180 cycles 7263%coverage lol... it was etiher my video card drivers or my memory slot in mobo... suprised and disappointed someone hasnt replied here to give me any more suggestions.

yup... i installed 3d drrivers and at 80% it crashed.. the dump said that mixer.exe was errored by the pkrpamp.exe file... and thats my audio driver software.

i uninstalled both sound cards, still got a crash...

Then i googled around some more and found out that people get the same error from amd drivers and the dual core optimizer. So the second i tried to uninstall the optimizer, it crashed.

i removed the 64bit cpu drivers but i still cannot remove the optimizer... it goes to remove then says a file is missing and cant remove it.

i removed the optimizer and my crashes seem to be gone but my bf2142 froze up while i was playing... no dmp file for that though... i wonder if thats just the game ?

i have 2 stick of patriot ddr installed into different mem slots and i have no sound card back and running.. seems fine so far. 1 crash and no bsods for 2 hours now.

but my games are running kinda laggy and im still getting 60 fps with all settings on high.
i got 1.5 gig of ddr so what could be causing lag?

i installed my latest amd64 bit drivers but im not sure if i should try the optimizer or not... what you think ?

Honestly, there is no 'definate fix' for this kind of problem. All you can do is try different things and hope it works.

Most of the net references to this kind of error seem to be fixed either by switching memory (or just switching sockets), or by updating drivers. Personally, I would think that it has something to do with the BIOS memory settings.

well ive done the drivers and memory switching..... i also set the bios defaults.. so i think everything is fixed now.. its been 3-4 hours and only 1 crash in bf2142... prolly a game error. bf2 did that alot to me.

after a few days of no bsod's i think ill start to overclock my settings again.. it might only be that first slot on my motherboard that makes me bsod... hopefully.

You're getting a lot of issues all pointing to different things. That's a classic hardware issue.

No, BF1942 shouldn't BSOD - period. If it does, there's a problem.

I suggest returning your PC to your vendor for them to look at if you can make your machine fail memory tests; that suggests you have a hardware issue. The fact that all kinds of different drivers, again, are pointed to says 'hardware'.

well i rearranged the memory chips and added more... i have 1 gig stick, 512 stick, 256, 256 and ran prime95 for 10 hours with no warnings...

could it be my video card mesing up? its an x1800xl and i just bought it 3 months ago

This is a Case of Operator Issues....


1,) the OP Has not provided Enough Hardware O/S and Driver Information to Allow good Troubleshooting and Problem Solving.

2,) It looks like he has put x64 Processor Drivers on a 32 Bit O/S In one of the above posts he Said His O/S Version was NT 5.1.2600 Build... that is 32bit XP...... XP x64 is NT 5.2.3790


OP - Don't waste your Time any further............Format, Re-Install Windows, and use 32 Bit XP Drivers for all Hardware.....

In the Future Save Yourself and Everyone Else alot of B/S and Give Good System Info.... MB,CPU, Vid Cards,O/S Etc.

This is a Software Issue Caused by the Wrong Drivers being used. Just because the Processor is 64 Bit does not mean that the Operating System is....

Install Drivers One at a Time and test... It will let you isolate issues better, and then rollback the O/S....
