BSOD at 270fsb

ok i got a 1.8 winchester that ive running at about 2.37GHZ righ now using 263 fsb and a 9x multi on the cpu.... i have my ram at a DDR333 and my HTT is hitting 1040-1050 w/ a 4x multi ... i have maxed out my cpu voltage in bios and during a run in 3dmark05 it just went blue and rebooted.... i thought it was pretty cool that it went ahead and rebooted for me 🙂 where am i going wrong... i know your supposed to stay around 1GHZ on the HTT but i figure 100-200MHZ wont hurt... or will it?

im new to this stuff and reading the down and dirty guide got me to where im at right now so any other help will be very much appreciated...
 
Lower your LDT multiplier to 3.

Also, what is your vcore set to? What are your temps? Which mobo? Which RAM? Which PSU? We need a lot more info than you gave us.
 
vcore is at 1.45 because that the max i can set it, temps are never over 40C, Mobo is ASRock Dual939-SATA2, 1GB Kingmax Dualchannel kit(i dont remember which one it was but its not made anymore), Thermaltake 420 Purepower

1040-1050 mhz HT should be fine (never go above 1100 though) but setting the LDT to 3x won't hurt. Also that TT PSU is a little weak (only 18A on the +12V rail right?) and may be your culprit.

1.45v may be too low for your Winnie to run @ 2.37 GHz. I assume your BIOS allows for vcore + % for vcores above 1.45v? If it does try increasing the vcore to 1.5v or so. Winchesters tend to need higher vcore (1.5v+) to reach speeds of ~2.4 GHz.

Also use memtest to make sure there's nothing wrong with your memory. From my experience 3DMark05 has a tendency to blue screen from memory errors . . .
 
my bios only lets me choose between a range of .8-1.45 volts... i have another psu but its a Kingwin 450 3 fan that is REALLY loud plus i need the cable length of the thermatake for the p180....

its very possible for the mem to be a problem since as it sits its at 215 and it the kingmax value ram 🙂

where might i find memtest???

P.S.
i absolutly HATE intel cpu's well except the Pentium classic becaues they are SO EASY to "overclock"
 
Sounds like memory to me, with HTT at 270 using DDR333 your memory is running over 200mhz. Possible solutions

1. Use DDR266
2. Loosen your memory timings and/or increase the DDR volts
 
its a spam reply that is retarded.... im thinking about going down to DDR266 then going up on my FSb... but if i do that ill need to drop to a 3x HTT multiplier and i max out at 275 on the bios that i have right now so ill lose a lot of my HTT overall...

speaking of low HTT speeds... whats too low.
 
ok i just dropped the HTT to 3x and dropped the mem down to DDR266... it booted...now when i tried pushing the FSB to 265 it booted fine... no problems, when i went to 270 it failed to boot. now i have it back at 4x HTT at 260 and its running fine.

does anyone know what the problem could be?
 
Does your motherboard have adjustable chipset voltage? If so try raising it a notch or two, otherwize you may have found the boards limit.
 
its a ASRock Dual939-SATA2.... what do you mean chipset voltage.... is that the same as the corevoltage? if not then no and i have my core maxed at 1.45... i can go higher but i have ot voltmod the board. i can also get a few more little tweaks by using a modded bios but i dont care that much.... i think its a Northbridge issue since mine gets fairly hot and its got a passive heatsink.
