This is only my second build ever so I'm still new to this, please bear with me.
I upgraded my PC with the following parts:
Motherboard: MSI P55-GD65 LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
RAM: A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
CPU: Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
Video Card: Radeon HD 5830
I'm using my old HD with Windows 7 Home 64Bit and Corsair 750w PSU.
On paper this all looked fine but I haven't been able to get it to work. My problem occurs during the windows boot screen where the 4 balls of light come together to create the windows logo. It freezes for a second then I get a BSOD saying something is wrong with the hardware.
Here is where I'm lost. I have a second old HD I keep in my case which has Windows XP that I don't have connected to anything. I tried booting the PC with only the XP HD connected and it worked.
After searching around I found it the mobo can be a bitch when it comes to RAM. I checked the MSI site and RAM I have is listed as compatible. People seem to be having problems with this mobo with it comes to RAM so I'm guessing it's the RAM or the mobo itself.
I'm pretty must lost at this point and considering sending the mobo and RAM back for a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 and G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 1600's since a friend recommended them.
If anyone thinks they have a solution, please let me know. Thank you.
