bsod after install XP pro

Everytime I install XP professional SP1 on my new system it wants to bsod with different errors and depending on which restart it is or if I move the RAM from dual-channel to regular or remove a stick it will give me a different error. My current system specs are:
-pentium-d 830
-Asus p5n32-SLI deluxe
-1g PNY optima ram pc2-5300
-nvidia geforce 7600GT
-maxtor IDE harddrive
-ATAPI DVD-RW

I have an SP2 cd however it was downloaded when I had a problem with the other motherboard and c2d I had planned on building. (mobo turned out to be faulty and not the problem with the SATA drivers). The different sp2 cds I have cause either a bsod before it installs at the screen: setup is starting Windows, or just restart the computer when I instruct it to boot from the CD-ROM. As stated above the sp1 cd after install always causes a crash of the system. The first error message it gave me was 0x00000050 which is video driver based, however I was not able to get into safe mode as it would restart the computer after it said loading .../drivers/mup.sys. Any help on this problem that I am having with the Windows install would be greatly appreciated.

Update: after disabling anything dealing with SATA/RAID in the BIOS I was able to install windows with the SP2 cd that bsod at the setup is starting Windows screen. Now it BSODs while loading windows with the stop error code 0x00000019 BAD_POOL_HEADER

After 20 installs and modifying the ****** outta the BIOS I reverted back to the original BIOS settings and Windows decided to work...I do believe however the only modification was RAID remains turned off!!! yay for Windows finally working!!!
