LOL, they have a presence in BOTH the United State (sic) of American and  Tartarstan!

Gave 'em my grandma's complete savings. I'm in on the ground floor, baby, I'm in!!!

They said TATARSTAN not Tartarstan. TATARSTAN is a real place.

Its a geographical region in Russia. That's like some company boasting they have a presence in "Appalachiastan" or "Banatisan".

And this site/company/technology are utterly ridiculous and fake. If you're wondering why they'd do it, its probably some type of investor scam. It has happened before (BitBoys, Infinium Labs) and it should be no surprise its happening again.

It is not just a geographical region it is also an autonomous state in Russia. There is no Appalachiastan but there is a Tatarstan.

yes I think so, there is a video on that site that is edited (very poorly) that looks like they are trying to trick you into beliving this "active solar chip" is captureing an image and displaying it back...

this is a site attached to it. http://www.atomchip.com/index.html

If you watch the vidoe for the solar chip, it is narrated by a younger girl. Guys this is obviously a school project, don't take it so seriously.

This Dr. NakaMats guy seems to be incredibly famous in Japan, and he DID invent the floppy disk. When he invented the floppy fifty years ago, people probably thought it was a gimmick too, seeing as they were using punch-cards at the time.
I don't believe "NakaMats" is a Japanese name.

NakaMats isn't japanese. He just calls himself that.

its actually just Nakamatsu

you can read it here.

Very good seeing that they were at CES 2004 also given the fact that they do have a booth according to the CES website.

LMAO... That's pretty freakin' crazy; they don't even need a lens to focus the image onto the "solar chip!" :Q

I wonder if I took the lens off my SLR and just held it up next to something, if it would produce a recognizable image like their vanderchippp did? 😉

well I stopped by their booth, with my laser pointer in hand to test their solar chip for myself, needless to say they wouldn't allow it, so I had my companion distract them while went to work.

I hit the "input" side with the laser pointer I made sure it was red just like in their video so I could be 100% sure waved my badge across it as a test then hit the retrive side with the pointer...and nothing happened, I was shocked. my assistant informed me after we left that they did nothing but blow smoke up his butt.

We asked a respected chip storage company (a sandisk engineer) if they had ever heard of such a technology or of the theory behind it, they tould us that it didn't seem likely to them and that they hadn't head of such a thing that they had been able to get storage chips equal to 6GB without such "non-existant" technology.

Aside from the production quality and edits, I also liked the way the chip knew to invert the text so that it was still readable to the viewer. If something like that did exist though ... wow.
