Is it possible? I bruised my tailbone yesterday. I didn't fall, have no idea wtf I did. I did lift yesterday. I don't recall it being sore after lifting, but I'm not positive.

Cue the jokes in 3...2...

You could have torn a muscle down there. You should get a doc to check it out.

I know this isn't an ass, but it's a pic of a dude with a torn pec.

I'm glad the picture wasn't of an ass 😉

Its a small bruise. I did work out yesterday, but the pain didn't start until 3 hours or so after working out and doing various other things. However, I did not warm up as well as I usually do.

Supposing I did pull a muscle, what exactly can a doctor do? Unless it is a serious tear, isn't it basically just "relax and wait"?

What lifts should I NOT do if this is a torn muscle? I'm gonna assume anything lower body, i.e. deads, squats, etc. as well as stabilizing such as OH press. Do I just become the bench press king? lol

Are you sure it's in the tailbone and not your lower back? Is it in the centre of your back/butt or the side? Find an anatomy picture on google images and post it here with a circle around the exact area.

What you need to do is warm-up properly. Something that works well:

500M row or 400M jog (70-80% intensity max)
Dynamic stretching of everything hip related (hams/glutes/hip flexor group/quads)
Dynamic upper body (shoulders, torso etc)

THEN start warming up the squat with an empty bar.

Should spend at least 15 minutes moving around before you start the training session in my opinion.

You didn't tear a muscle. You have so many nociceptors (pain sensors) in your muscle that you would feel it and fall over in pain. You likely either messed with a joint (sacroiliac joint or facet joints) or lightly sprained a ligament in your back. Take some time, keep active. If it doesn't go away, go see a chiro or PT.

Huh?

On a side note, its feeling MUCH better today. I can actually sit and stand without cringing. Sucks that my workout was tonight and I'll have to miss it though.

If you did this during leg press or squat, you really need to reevaluate your form to prevent this in the future. The most frequent exercise to cause this kind of pain (which is frequently ligament sprain) is leg press, especially when individuals let their butt come off of the back of the chair as the sled comes down. Keep your back and butt firmly pressed on the chair. If you can't, you need to work on your flexibility.

If anything, it would have been from squats, as I did do squats that day. What would cause this type of pain from squats?
