browsers problem

When I try to open a website such as www.download.com, the browser won't load completely. The background will be grey colored, lots of Xs for images. I don't know what' s wrong. This never happened before.
This happens when I use both firefox and IE.
Also, when I use tracking system on my Norton Internet Security, the page loads an grey image with a big red X on the top left side.

What' s wrong with the browsers?? I have java installed (version 1.4.2_05) and I'm guessing this is causing the problem but I'm not sure. Tell me what to do pleaseeeeee...
