Couldnt help but notice that theres not much choice in the software forum for browser related threads.

I'm of the opinion that we could merge some of the forums back to the way it was. /runs

There are only few browsers, no need for a forum for only a few threads. In fact, we have too many forums as is.

Ironically, we had to fight for years to get the programming forum, and then they just give up 50 more.

Oh come, have you seen the software forum lately? And does a few browsers really mean a few threads? I mean apart from an OS and an ocean of 3rd party programs, what else is there? Browsers. But anyway, I digress.

There are 9 subsection on the software heading, several id call specialist, plus console gaming(do what? in a software forum?), leaving only 2 forums for anything to do with windows software (with exception of a very underused security forum, which should be renamed to show people it includes spyware spam and other matters of that ilk).

The remaining 2 forums are soo top heavy with posts its kinda obvious there a management problem, i came here wanting to ask about something involved with a browser and was faced with a choice of OS (which it kinda is on-topic for IE due to integration, but not firefox or others) or just throwing it in the general big bin called Software for Windows with everything else, like everyone does- i didnt fancy that so I went elsewhere to post but is that what everyone wants?

I thought it would make sense to break out anything that can be identified as a main area, infact its making a nice group now: general software, security, browser, gaming, os, then all the other programming, nix, apple, and finally DC, a strong forum to end with. What could be worse than that?

(kick the consoles into consumer electronics, its almost what they are )

You think it's fair to lump all Nix related subjects into one category, but not to lump browsers (which is simply software, like anything else) with Windows Software?

Whats all that about? I'm not proposing any changes to Nix related subjects.

The nix software forum amounts to 230 posts (compared to 45,667 in the windows forum), you couldn't lose a grain of rice in it and subdivisions would be pointlessly wasteful. Why change it?
