Browser based war games like Earth 2025 or Tribalwars...

Alright, I'm looking for a new browser based (free) war game. I want a mix of Ogame and/or Tribal Wars with something like Earth 2025.

Ideally, I'd like a game with war/politics/strategy as the main element. Country building, military building, attacking/defending and alliances.

The problem I have with Tribalwars is that it is EXTREMELY time consuming/chaotic in the middle to late stages. Ogame solves this nicely by only having to manage a maximum of 9 counties and not having to micro-manage every little bit of your army for attacks/defenses etc...

The problem with Ogame is it doesn't seem to have as much of a social element and needing to be political with your neighbors.

Is there anything that is a cross of those two games with some Earth 2025 sprinkled in?

Oh I should also mention I don't like turn based games, definitely want a real time type of game. So that's one of the downsides of Earth 2025

I should probably stay the hell away from this thread. :hmm:

;)

I did the Ikariam and Tribalwars and Grepolis thing. Kind of sucks when you're up against people who:
- Have infinite free time and no job or school schedule.
- Have loads more money to spend on in-game upgrades to weaponry, defenses, and unit speed.

Either way, someone's going to have a massive advantage over you, unless the game is done up to mitigate these. :)

And may god have mercy on the souls of those who get into another (fun) game like this.

I agree. I played the hell out of Tribal Wars for awhile and it was very nice. Ikariam etc. are similar. They are nice, but I don't like how in the late stages micromanagement is so important. Ogame doesn't require that micromanagement but there is no social aspect of the game. There has got to be a decent cross between those, no?

If you're still interested in Earth: 2025, Earth Empires (www.earthempires.com) is pretty much an exact clone of it. And if you're interested in joining an alliance, let me know. :)

The problem I have with Earth 2025 is just it being turn based. It feels so limiting for me.

Tribal wars was a great game but really gets nasty after getting a few more then 6 or 7 cities for me.

There are many games like this on facebook if you have a account and some are flashed based games for better graphics and animated battles if that's your thing but I doubt any would be as hardcore like tribal wars where you could loose everything that took a few months to get when a much stronger player / group of them gang up on you even with a decent alliance.

Run Jeff run!

That's what chased me out of TW finally, just took too much time.

I never actually did Ogame. Heard about it though.
Yeah, Ikariam became more of a routine maintenance thing. And when they had the insane building costs at the higher stages, it was just all about pillaging the local towns and waiting for the days-long warehouse upgrades to finish. Then a month later they'd restructure the game completely. Ok, enough of of that, I was done.

My TW time ended because of a finals week at college. My account sat idle for something like two or three whole days. When I logged back in, I had multiple incoming conquest parties - from my own alliance. o_O

Grepolis: I accidentally tangled with a more powerful and time-laden player. He was persistent, and he had some alliance friends nearby. But his victories were typically costly. :) Considerable thanks for defensive aid goes to Spartan9, if I remember correctly.

Haha smart phones are ideal for browser games. I'm down with finding a game, we just have to find the right one. I didn't really like that heroes game much...

The last game of this type I played was Ikariam, mostly in the early days of the ATOT alliance, when we were just starting to get really strong. That was fun, but things started to take entirely too long.

Ogame was hell because once you build up a fleet that was decent you became a target for higher ups. You had to fleetsave and if you screwed up, say bye to your fleet. When my fleet finally got hit it was because I screwed up and had it landing at 3 or 4 in the morning. The hit made it into the Top10. That dropped me from #8 into the 30s, it's a very crushing feeling. After that I made sure to get a moon before getting a large fleet.

I kinda like Backyard Monsters on Facebook. It's fun terrorizing your friends and taking over their outposts :)

I used to play OGame until my fleet got crushed by a top 50 player. It was taking forever to upgrade things at that point anyway.

I almost forgot about Earth 2025.

I used to love that game back in highschool (10+ years ago). Do people still play that to this day ?

I am still playing OGame, Hell I just got my fleet smashed by #2 in the universe yesterday afternoon. Lost about 450,000 points worth of fleet. Oh well, mining right now anyway, got almost all the cargos back already. :p
