You know what;s kinda funny about this game... it seems there is no advantage in defense. I ran that Speed Sim with 1 light fighter attacking and 1 light fighter defending. The predicted outcome is:

| Attacker wins (37%) || Defender wins (29%) || Draw (34%) | after ~ 4 rounds

yikes

edit: actually im looking at that wrong. A Draw would be in favor of the defender right? Does that mean neither ship are destroyed but the attacker goes home empty handed?

A draw means that the attacker does not get your resources.

After 6 rounds of fighting, if the attacker or the defender has not run out of ships/defense, it ends in a draw.

im at 47. started the 17th..

i feel im doing something wrong. i feel slow to get stuff,

If you're bringing in full cargos every time then you'l be going up real quick in pts. I'm barely filling half of a single cargo ship now on my runs against 2 idle players in my system :(

last haul was 1625 metal, 569 crystal and 167 deut

need to find a better target...

im pulling in full loads so far. i wish i had a probe. i going to work my way up to one. i want to know what resources are left on these planets.

i need to get solar 12. ive been igorning all my mines today and solar. to build up my cargos. 4cargos 1 light fighter so far. got another cargo on its way home. going to build another cargo and fighter. then im going to go hit up this other 7day idle. im not sure about. well see what happens.

Hmm, I feel that things are going to slow. I started on the 18th and all I have is:

M9
C7
D5
S10
Robot 1
Research 1
Energy Tech 1

My goal is to build up my first small cargo so I can do raids, but I still got a long way to go.

Any tips on making things go faster? :(

Usually things go exponentially faster as you play more. Once you start building ships, you have to look for good planets to attack. Then you have to know when your ships are coming back so you can send them back out again. Then you start getting bigger fleets and you have to fleet save. Then you start building colony ships. You get more planets and the game gets 5 times busier. Before you know it, you will be on 24/7 and you still can't manage it to the best. :)

Oh boy what am I getting myself into! :D

edit: about fleetsaving... so the idea is when you are offline you want your fleet to be somewhere safe. So as soon as you log in the fleet comes back and then you quickly send them off on a mission again. Your fleet should never be just sitting in orbit around your home planet. that sound right?

I'm at 85 now and I'm thinking i'll be around 100 tomorrow so that means they can attack me if they < 500 pts. Either way I'll be running into them soon and so far am completely defenseless

dont forget the fact your in a big alliance. they dont want the wrath of 60plus members after them. they dont really know what we have. so its a good chance they wont attack you since our alliance is 60big.. unless they are bigger and stronger.

but we got your back! me and my 1 light figter.

turkish will have to protect us now! :)

Well, I submitted my application (datalink7 from the planet Vox).

Seems like it is slow to start... but I can see how it could pick up once you get resources.

Ah, but if they check the alliace stats page, they'll see that our per member score is still at 0! :p

I'm worried about how this noob protection thing will work once we start getting higher scores. If you score is 100 you're protected from >500 score people. But what if your score is 1000? You're only protected from people with >5000 pts. Someone with 4000 can attack you, and he'll have a huge advantage over you.

That's the gist of it. Usually you load your cargo ships too so no one can raid your planet while your fleet's away.

However, there's something called a sensor phalanx that can be built on moons. That allows you to see where someone's fleet is, and when they'll arrive. The really good players will time their raids, just seconds after your fleets arrive home. That way they nail your fleet and fully loaded cargo ships.

Yeah that's sorta what I was trying to say before. The 5x score thing is fine for early in the game but once you start raking up some points you become vulnerable to some really powerful people who you have no hope of competing against.

people super high wont want to attack low level people. the claim value of resources will be so minamal to them. they are production like so much more than you. why would they waste there time just to get like 5000 minerals.

it wouldnt be valuable to them to attack people lower. unless u piss of there friends..

Yeah that makes sense and I hope you're right!

Fleet saving sounds like such a hassle but is so necessary to be able to survive to compete. I don't know how long my patience can last trying to fleetsave everynight- trying to plan everytime I log in and when I need resources to build things. :( I guess this is why there are all these inactive players... they just got sick of dealing with this!

Yeah, fleetsaving sounds like a PITA. In fact, it sounds like such a huge hassle that my current plans are to avoid building a fleet at all and just turtle behind my planetary defense :)

I suggest getting atleast a couple of small cargos so you can take a little additional resource from planets without defense. No one is gona bother you for having a few small cargos on your planet (assuming that you have some defense). Even turtlers need to raid a little.

yeah, I'm doing that. It's probably worth having a small fleet for small raids, but nothing large enough that I'll cry if it gets vaporized.

just dont leave any resources on your planet. spend spend spend.

i dont keep anything. unless i get stuff from when i sleep. then i wake up and hope its there. lol. im going to try to build to small lasers tonight before i goto sleep. hopefully to scare little people off. eventhough there is nothing on my planet. i feel i should at least have one laser.

Large lasers are great for low level turtles. If u wanna turtle for a long time, make sure to have high level deuterium metal and crystal mines. Send solar sattilites for good power also...

I decided to try sending my raiders outside my system for the first time! I sent 2 cargo ships to a nearby system, each to a different planet. The only difference is it's now going to be a 4 hour round trip instead of 2. But since I'm not getting much from the guys in my system it might just be worth it...

Right now I have L12 metal, L11 crystal, L7 deuterium (being upgraded), L12 solar power, L4 fusion power, L2 robotic, L2 shipyard and L3 research lab

i have researched espionage 1, computer 1, energy 3, armour 3, combustion 2 and laser 3

so far so good i think
