Browser adware prompts

Sometimes when you are browsing you get those message prompts that have "cancel" or "ok" and send you to a site or make you download something. I know you shouldn't click on it , but what about the [X] close button on the message? Can it still trigger something?

Use task manager to end the task. I use firefox and ad-block so i dont get those but yea task manager.

EDIT: i think its ok as long as you dont hit ok or cancel

I usually do use Task Manager, but I get annoyed with having to find all the tabs again. I'm using chrome with adblock but I guess the adblock is not as good.

If you get an unwanted pop-up, YES, it can capture the red "X" button-clicks too, so DONT CLICK ON *ANYTHING*.

Right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen (not browser), and select "Task Manager". Look under processes or applications, and End Task your web browser.

Right click on the item in the taskbar and close or do an ALT-F4. Never click on one of those things as sometimes there is no real window frame and the "standard buttons" are fakes.
