why does that shit happen to the Steelers so often, AB went crazy after that Bengals playoff game...

AB is a head case, everyone knows that. Which is no excuse though. Division games, and especially cities this close are often times chippy. This game in particular, it was clear that the Browns intent was to start something. They repeatedly delivered late hits. Knocked two players out of the game with illegal hits to the head. Kept hitting the QB late, and in the head. And yet still they almost lost. They're a terrible team who isnt not living up to the hype, and they simply cant deal with it. I hope they lose every single game left. They will implode.

Every team has had players who are dirty. I detested the Steelers (and Ward) for a long time, because Hines Ward broke a rookie LB's jaw by a late and dirty hit. But we're talking about this individual game. He lost a lot of money, and the punishment is fitting for all three. There will be more fines for the hits that were not called, which happens a lot.

LOL at Steelers fans. They've been a dirty team as long as I can remember. As if they have any room to bitch about cheap shots.

Yeah Steelers really have no high road with regards to dirty play (I'm just glad its mostly reserved for their rivalries). I saw somewhere quoted Harrison on Twitter like he has any room to talk about punishing dirty players/hits. Him and the other Harrison should be told to STFU after the way they played.

Hell, even Rudolph is trying to act like he didn't do anything. Fucker played a huge role in the overall situation and should be fined and suspended for at least a game as well. Talk about punkass bitch move, running over after two lineman had Garrett separated and trying to do some shit.

I guess Rob isn't around these days to make new threads...so I will treat this as the weekly football thread.

--TV option for us to today is Skins vs Jest Jest Jest, or Ravens vs Houston. hmmm, tough choice.

And they are both local games, so it's hilarious comparing the attendance at both stadiums, ~30 miles apart.

lol and holy fucking shit. the most egregious non-call on PI this season was just...confirmed on the field, yet again. I mean, as soon as that wasn't called, you know that if that isn't PI, there is no such thing as PI. This was a bomb to Hopkins in the endzone. It had jersey tugs, mugging and grabbing before the ball was there. It is goddamn effing ridiculous.

Eh, these are actually two very good teams, even if you don't give a shite about them. Should be a good game.

Would you rather have the Skins/Jest option that I have on the other channel? lol

Hey...my TV has an"off" setting.
The Cheatriots are on this afternoon...another "shite" team for me.

There are NO games today (or tomorrow) that I actually care about. I mean...sure, it's still football, and so better than almost anything else on the teevee...but I just might have to find something else to do on this rainy Sunday...

That's the problem with the entire NFL now. Unless you're a hardcore fan of a particular team and HAVE to watch their games, pretty much the entire schedule is weak. If the NFL is lucky there might be one really good national-level game every other week or so and the rest of the lineup is squarely in the "who gives a shit?" column.

I'm "fortunate" (or retarded according to some folks) in that I more or less fit the description of "hard core fan" for 3 different teams. Are any of them perfect? <scoff>
Are any of them "the best football team in history? Not fucking hardly...but all 3 have been fairly good in recent years..some years better than others...and yes, I have to suffer the occasional game when 2 of the 3 play each other...including a Super Bowl a few years ago.

Wow...the Baltimore/Houston game is so bad, CBS changed us to the Denver Minnesota game.

yeah, Baltimore has really been making most teams look bad, except for the patriots...well, for the most part.

I bet that loss to the Browns still sticks in their craw.

Er, I'm not following that. They beat the shit out of the Pats. Worse than they beat objectively worse teams even. Which don't doubt that'll be the Pats "motivation" game that they seem to need every year, so I'm not sure I'll read much into it when it comes to playoffs, but they made the Pats look bad. It was enough that people immediately wondered if they had massively overrated the Pats (because of course they can't ever learn their lessons; unless the Pats have a losing record, the media should just go "we assume the Pats will make the playoffs and probably be one of the top 2 seeds", otherwise they shouldn't talk about them being overrated or not talk about them like last year as we see how both ways turn out).

Which, Baltimore's a good team for sure. But they've lost both times to the Chiefs when they had Jackson. Of course then the Chiefs go and lose 4 games that they should have won (only one of which was without Mahomes) and then won at least one that they probably shouldn't have (Lions game), so I can't really say they're the better team. I think they have similar issue that the Chiefs had last year, they need to get a lead going early and then they win pretty handily. If they don't, they're quite vulnerable (the Chiefs because their d isn't/wasn't good enough, the Ravens I'm not sure, but I don't think Lamar has yet hung in a real shootout - where both teams are matching each other and putting up points, he can put up points, but there's only so much that even stupendous single players can do when the other team is rolling as well; that's not a knock on Jackson as I'm not sure Mahomes has won such a game yet, they lost against the Rams and against the Pats twice and those are the types of shootouts I'm talking about; I think the closest Jackson has been in there were the two Chiefs games and then 2 Browns games he's played in, and he's 1-3 in those; and if those count then I think Mahomes is like 7-3 in those types of games; actually I'd say even including those other 3 games Mahomes is about even in shootouts, with only one, maybe two of those losses really being able to be put on him in much regard as usually some manner of big f-up happened; I'm not sold that Jackson could keep his team hanging in there if they shut his running down and force him to pass to keep up - I'm not saying he's a horrible passer either and its tough for any QB including all time greats - although that often was what defined them, with Brady and Montana being the legends they are because of it in the biggest games, with Elways being good other than usually the Super Bowl - even his two rings were likely more because of Terrell Davis; heck Manning faltered plenty too obviously his struggles against the Pats and even his rings were hard to give him full credit for; they're obviously great QBs though).

The Pats came back, though. The only thing different between them and Atlanta, is the Pat's didn't win. Atlanta was beating the shit out of the Pats, until they weren't...pretty much the same with that Baltimore game. Not that I disagree there, but it still shows how good the Pats are, basically coaching and D, because despite their record...they do look "weak" this year. None of that matters, though, until you beat them.

I do believe Baltimore is the best team in the AFC so far. Chiefs are no slouch, we'll see. ....but I'm always going to default to the Pats being the best until you beat them. Playoffs matter more. Other than that, AFC looks like a dumpster fire. NFC is so loaded this year. ...and when you consider how good a team like the Cowboys should be (it comes down to coaching, I think. There is no reason that team should have more than 2 losses), there's a lot of spoilers floating around, too. Hell, Arizona looks capable of pissing off anyone in the NFC West, which is just stacked.
