Brown rice >> White rice

Because Beriberi is a cool sounding disease and traditional foods don't have enough processing for US palates.

white rice is more popular because it tastes worlds better, a Teriyaki Chicken Bowl's one of the greatest meals on the planet. And you almost never see one made with brown rice, there's a reason for that.

I'll give you a hint: it's because one's better than the other, clearly better.

For me it's not a price issue, if white rice was 10x the price of brown I'd still only buy it. I cannot stand brown rice, YUCK!

Brown rice has a nice nutty flavor. The real problem is that it takes twice as long to cook. That shit sucks.

white rice... tastes like nothing really. not really fiberous which makes it easy to chew and absorbs the flavoring of what you eat it with. only bad thing is that eating white rice makes you fall asleep easier because it's easier for your digestive system to break down.

people say that apparently that causes a spike in blood sugar blah blah blah... bad... you want low gi index grain to help control insulin levels so that fat burning is maximized etc... crap crap you get the picture.

Tastes a lot better

and healthier

so why is white rice so pop?

White is nothing but starch.. it has slightly sweet flavor and an awesome combination when you pair it with some spicy and flavorful food.

Brown Rice is good and all, but IMO it spoils the flavor of certain dishes.

brown everything >>>> white in terms of rice, bread, tortilla, other food. and other things probably

Close!

Its not hugely healthier. I've tried some also the Costco type. Its edible . Works well with curry especially Japanese. That said a friend of mine had me try if because he lost a lot of weight eating it. It makes you feel full because the fiber takes a lot longer to digest. If you have the right rice cooker its not that much harder .

That said I don't really eat it much. If you are on a diet I'd rather just learn to have discipline and stop myself from eating a lot of easily digestible white rice. I mean white rice tastes good just eat in moderation
