No touchscreens controls or wired support or duplexer or media slots (not a big deal for most).

Solution for those with printers that don't recognize cartridges
As other reviewers have already covered how this ink is cheap and works, I won't go over that. I specifically want to point out a solution to the problem faced by a few when the printer does not recognize that the cartridge has been installed.

The same thing happened to me - I installed the Magenta and the Yellow inks in my Brother MFC-3360 all0in-one printer/fax/scanner device. The magenta ink was recognized instantly, but the printer kept thinking that there was no yellow ink cartridge installed. After multiple reboots of the printer and computer could not resolve the issue, I took out the cartridge and examined it closely.

There is a small plastic cover on the lower end of the cartridge with a ink nozzle behind it. This is different from the tab you have to remove before installing the cartridge. The printer makes a small perforation in the ink nozzle plastic cover, that allows it to withdraw ink from the cartridge. I noticed that the perforation was not made very well when I inserted the cartridge in the printer in the first go-around, and the plastic cover was obstructing the ink flow. I used a pair of scissors to make a clear hole and re-installed, and now the printer is able to recognize the cartridge.

Thanks for the info on non OEM cartridge recognition. I bought one of these for $59.99 at Officemax about 2 months ago and couldn't be happier with it so far. It's tempting to pick up a 2nd one at this price just to have as a backup.

Yep same here. So far so good with the one I picked up from OfficeMax. Connects to my WPA2 AES 802.11N network with no issues.

This printer is incredible. You can get the cartridges for ~$1 each shipped off Ebay. It's cheaper to run than a laserjet. You're basically only paying for the paper you use. The photo output is awesome as well.

This is by far the best printer I have ever owned.

**edit** the meritline deal is better in the US, but the Ebay deal is cheaper in Canada due to the shipping costs.

The $10 coupon code does not appear to be working now, bummer, I was going to order one. Is there another code that may be similar or was this just a 4th of July sale that ended on the 7th?

No duplexer is a very, very big deal. That can mean spending double the amount of paper depending on what you are doing, and paper is not cheap. Sure, you can play paper flipping games, but gotta be careful not to cause a jam.

Still though. $50 is a price at which the lack of duplexer can be forgiven.

This printer is incredible. You can get the cartridges for ~$1 each shipped off Ebay.

...and damage your printer. I heard too many stories about cheap cartridges damaging printers. And the output is noticeably inferior to originals with common issues such as toner bleed. Also, cheap cartridges often dry out before you can use them. Edit I'm sorry. Didn't notice this was an inkjet. I was referring to the laser printer. Assumed since it's a Brother, it must be laser.

But again, at this price, all these risks are justified.

EDIT $10 off coupon is dead.

It's $50 at Office Depot right now. Add a filler item (50 cent erasers) to get free shipping. Just snagged one. $55 with change after taxes to NYC.

Does anyone know how to "trick" this printer into "thinking" cartridges are full, when they are actually empty? I only do black and white printing and don't want to waste money on color ink. I read somewhere that there is a way to tape over the cartridge in a specific place to trick the printer, but not I cannot find that same webpage...

Just received my printer yesterday. The quality is excellent all around. It copies, prints and faxes like a champ! I couldn't be happier.

One of the main reasons why I got it was the batch scanning from document feeder. Hate scanning one at a time from my flatbed. This Brother AIO is pretty darn slow at scanning, but not any slower than if I was to do it by hand using a flatbed. I can load several docs at once, and I don't have to flip the cover open every time, replace docs, etc, etc. So in the end, it is off course still much faster than what I had before.
