Brother MFC 3820CN vs Hp PSC 2510

I'm deliberating on 2 printers -- help me choose

Brother MFC 3820CN -- price of $199.99 - $30 rebate - 12 free reams of paper
uses separate ink cart.

or

HP PSC 2510 Photosmart - price of $349.99
uses black and tri-color cart. or photo cart.

both seem to have the same dpi and mostly the same functions

I'm leaning towards the brother if it's still in stock today.

Any Opinions?

well personally the 2510 is really nice because it has built in wifi, supports 56,57,58,59 cartridges for photo/greyscale. If you don't need the wifi for a wireless home networked printer, definitely grab the 1350 or 2410...basically the 1350 is a smaller, non-fax version of the 2410. Big HP fan myself, but I have the Canon MP390, which is phenominal, and for a full black colour it costs $25, which is like 1/3 the price of brother / HP ink.

Between the 2. The Brother

Reasons being

1) obviously cheaper & the free reams of paper included doesn't hurt.
2) individual carts == with the HP, if one of the tri-ink cartridge colors runs out you'll have to replace the entire cartridge regardless if the other colors are still in supply.

BTW if you did get your 2 choices from PCMag's MFP comparo, the Canon MP730 while listed on PCMag's comparison @ $400 is actually priced @ $300(MSRP) now but if you buy it from Amazon it's selling @ $266 w/ free shipping(after added into online cart).

Which I'd personally prefer over the Brother.

I just got the brother 3820cn for $150 at Staples 😀.

High- I dont know where youre getting your ink from but it's only $5-$10 a cart for the ink in the 3820.

I bought an MFC 3820CN back on june 9 2004 from Staples. The ad (which i can't find) said there was a $ 50 or $30 rebate on it which i can't find anywhere. Staples rebates shows no record of such a rebate ever existing. I've looked at Brother's website and staples web site for rebates and no luck. I swear there was rebate that was supposed to come with this MFC printer. This is the only reference to such a rebate i can find. Wish I had got a laser.

If you're going to be printing photos, HP. If not, go with the brother. Another all-in-one if you don't need a fax, would be to look at the Epson RX500.
