Brother laser printer problem

There's toner smeared over the pages that come out. I shook the toner cartridge and also slid the corona wire thingy.

Any advice? Model is HL-1435
 
Probably not an option, but if you happen to have a spare toner cartridge available, swap it in there and see if you still smear. If so, its an issue in the printer hardware, if not, its the toner. That is usually where I start to troubleshoot smearing issues. If it is the toner cart, you may be out of luck, clean it up as much as possible. Same goes with the printer
