Yet another deal on the Brother HL-1440 laser printer!

As Bit mentioned in a previous thread, Amazon is selling the Brother HL-1440 laser printer for $240 with free shipping.

PM at OfficeMax.com. Then send in this rebate form for a $50 gift card. (MIR valid 1/20 - 1/26.) Total price:

$240
- $50 gift card
-----------------------------
= $190 shipped (free shipping for orders over $50 at OfficeMax.com).

This is an awesome laser printer with high resolution (1200x600dpi), fast printing speed (max 15ppm), and low printing cost (~1.5 cent/page counting toner and drum costs; lower than all other laser printers in its class). I've had it for 4 months now and have been extremely satisfied with it.

(If you want to try your luck, after PM, order another $10 worth of stuff, then try to apply a $50 off $250 coupon found here and see if the OM customer representative will let you. If you succeed, then total price of the laser printer will be:

$250
- $50 off $250 coupon
- $50 gift card
--------------------------------
= $150 shipped (plus you get that $10 worth of extra stuff)

Good luck! Let us know if you succeed in doing this.)

One must first buy this printer at the regular price, then submit an email to OM. I called yesterday, talked to an OM CSR, and ask general question about this issue. OM will PM with Amazon.

1. Buy from OM online - $299.99 -$50 =$249.99
2. PM against Amazon (now at which figure will OM do the price match $299.99 or $249.99?)
3. Submit paperwork for the $50 gift card.

Keep one from buying $10 of stuff and OM may credit one CC for $60, instead of $10.

What brother me is that one needs order first, then request the PM. One has become dependence on the seller to okay the terms and may cause you alot of headaches.

How about if I PM at B&M instead of online? I was thinking maybe I could bring a printout from Amazon's website to their B&M store, ask them to verify it on their computer, and PM that way? If they refuse to PM, then I can just leave. Haven't tried this myself yet but it might work and that relieves you of the trouble of cancelling the order if they refuse to PM online after you order.

purchase with coupon then PM is doable. Just got a letter from OM for my PM request online:

Dear OfficeMax.com Customer,

Thank you for your price match request. We have processed your request on
the Brother HL-1440 Laser Printer. Our item number for the item is 20060817.

Their price: $239.99
Their delivery: $0.00
Their total price: $239.99

Our price: $299.98
Our delivery: $0.00
Our total price: $299.98

Difference: $59.99

Per our Corporate office, a credit of $59.99 will be issued to your card for
the price match. Thank you for your interest in OfficeMax.com.

Sincerely,

As I said I haven't tried this deal myself. But I think you would have to be super super lucky to come across a store manager who will let you both PM and use the online $50 off $250 coupon. It might still happen. Who knows? ;)

But try doing it online first, as Winder illustrated above. Purchase with coupon then PM. Good luck!

<<How about if I PM at B&M instead of online?>>

I tried that. My OM manager reconfirmed his goof status by telling me they only price match with OD and Staples B&M.

Now I've ordered on line with the $50 coupon code, and submitted the PM request. Crossing fingers and toes (and everything else I have two of).

Just use the same strategy as when people PM at staples.com. Just drive to another OM and try again! If the manager there says no, then just leave and drive to yet another OM. If you try enough, it's likely you'll come across a manager that'll approve of the PM.

But that's if you have quite a number of OM's around where you live (I have about 3-4 OM's here in Silicon Valley within an easy drive from each other).

Even then, you can try going in to the same OM at different times of the day/week and you might come across a different manager. ;)

LOL... :)

Tried this deal and am getting a real hard time from Office Max
They will PM BUT they argue that shipping from Amazon.com is not next day shipping
as is Office Max's and if amazon was to upgrade shipping it would cost $46+
I have spoken to two CSRs on the phone and have been emailing and areguing my case with another .

I would recommend dealing with Office Max if you are attempting to PM and absolutely everything is not the same.
Logic is no where to be found.

I was getting ready to get in on this deal but...

Amazon has increased the price back to $289.

Maybe next time!

I got a question. Staples has it for 250 after the 50 instant rebate. found here But the site also shows the price before the instant savings, so will this work with the OM PM? If so, 50 off 250 and the gift card will make it 150.

The Staples $50 instant rebate offer expired on 1/12/02 according to the small prints at the bottom of the page.

The Staples $50 instant rebate (requires entry of special coupon code at checkout, described on Staples webpage for the printer) is active again, valid until 2/16...

I have tried the online pricematch request with officemax 3 times on 3 different items & have never gotten a return response from them.
