So I see the board denied your request to have your man card reinstated then? :\

You really are a woman. Pics?
if having a spotless house and being organized makes me a woman, so be it :D

in February I threw a big birthday party for my bro... no one could believe how clean my house was... allegedly i'm the cleanest bachelor out there :D

i dont know man. your take on the situation seems nice and cozy but we've got to hear from his side as well. :p maybe you acted like a total household chore nazi asshat to him.

there's always three sides to a story. yours, his, and the truth. ;)

meltdown, I think you've handled the situation appropriately and quite admirably. Offering support, but encouraging him just enough to get out on his own, prodding him over the simple responsibilities where he needed to be prodded.

I imagine that it's only the Canadian in you that makes you feel somewhat guilty.

I suggest you relax, don't sweat the small stuff, and celebrate his imminent departure with a nice fat doobie and a glass of Shiraz.

:)

i thought this was gonna be a parody thread. it sounded alot like that other post with the step father who's wow playing stepson was going to get kicked out with all the renovations.

I thought the exact same thing

i am sure you are right..... i guess i am pretty anal about certain things around the house. it's probably because it's just starting to feel like it's 100% mine again, so perhaps i overstepped my nagging rights a bit when someone was living there again and doing things differently.

i agree with your sentiment though. there are always 3 sides to every story.

meh, there will always be squabbles when you share a roof with anybody. but it's still a good thing you "motivated" him to start looking after himself.

don't feel guilty man. he's 33
you're letting him leave rent free and he's not appreciative of his own brother?

i can't. i found this out the hard way several years ago :D

he lived with me at the time as well. back in... oh, 2001 or so i guess.

i had went out for dinner with my then-fiance and had some leftovers in the fridge. came home from work the next day starving, went into the fridge, and there was 1/2 a biscuit and 1/2 a garlic shrimp left...

i asked him, "did you eat my leftovers?"

he says, "yeah, what are you going to do about it?"

i'm embarrassed to say it but a slight tussle ensued and several seconds thereafter i was face down on the kitchen floor with my arm behind my back... he had just completed hand-to-hand combat training as part of his then-gig with the Ontario Provincial Police... he also outweighs me by 40+ lbs and i'm 210 or so... he's a hoss :p

anyhoo i am sure he will find his way. i think part of the lesson he learned was that it isn't easy to come by full-time employment these days. he's had numerous temp and contract jobs and his current one is also a contract job until the end of August. i just hope he finds happiness...

i appreciate the comments and replies. it really helps to vent, whether it is online or in person... thanks ATOT :)
