Broken RMA?

Hi,

I just got my card back from an RMA to XFX. When I opened the bag out popped a capacitor that had broken off. It is certainly not my fault and it was well packed, so they very likely may have done it. I let them know but haven't heard back yet, but I wanted to check here. The card works in the computer, I just popped it in. Does it matter that much if it's missing a capacitor? It's a real pain to have to send it back again, and it seems to work...

a car can still drive on 3 wheels.... is it recammendable?

*whistles innocently*

Sure you just keep useing the card, its working right? so what if a piece of it just fell off... probably wont impact anything at all....

Please PM me your ticket ID and RMA number. If your account information on our site does not have your telephone number then update it or respond back to your ticket so that I can get a hold of you.

Similar thing happened to me with BFG, when they used to be in the video card business that is. I sent my malfunctioning video card to them and they sent me a refurbished upgrade. I plugged it into my computer and the damn thing wasn't working either, just kept crashing my computer.
I spoke with tech support and they sent me a prepaid box to send the RMA replacement in.
I ended up getting a GTX 280 for my 7800GT that I originally sent in 🙂

Other capacitors around the missing one will now work harder. Its usually why when your card stops working, you find 2 or 3 blown , not just 1.
You have capacitors for you memory and voltage circuits. A missing one undermines the design at the very least.

Update:

An XFX tech called me and they're sending me a fedex label to ship it back. +1 for XFX support!

clearly they are on the ball since their tech support responded in the thread. only other company I've seen that with is corsair with yellowbeard, though I'm sure there are others.

good job xfx!
