I bought this PSP from a friend for $30. It seems to be bricked, he says he done a firmware update (official) and now it doesn't turn on.

No LCD/backlight, the light goes orange with batt. in, soon as i pull out charger w/ the 'on' pulled up it turns green for a few secs and then goes off.
If i plug in w/o the batt. in, it'll go green and stay...it hasn't been opened or anything...any easy way to fix this?

There's an anti-bricker app. You need to convert a psp battery to a special "jigkick" battery used by developers. This allows you to unbrick any psp. Search for "psp pandora's battery" and you can find out how to do this in more detail.

Try doing a seach for those on Craigslist I have seen people that are willing to meet up with you and do it for free.
