broken pin on my socket 478

i own a socket 478 pentium 4 northwood 1.6a ghz. i had to remove the processor from the motherboard to apply some thermal compound and to my surprise i noticed that one of the pins sheared off. i thought it wouldn't work when i put it back but everything seems to be fine. is this normal? i guess i now have a socket 477.

I thought I read somewhere that you could turn an 400bus northwood into a 533bus northwood by breaking off a pin.

That's silly. Not matter how many pins you break off, the multiplier will stay the same. You can make a 400 norhty a 533 northy just by changing the FSB in the bios. If you want to keep the same clock speed and change the fsb, you will need to change the multiplier which is impossible in production processors.

Hope that you dont lose anymore. SOMETHING BAD JUST MIGHT HAPPEN.....😉 take care of what you have right now. BTW, what pin?
