Broken laptop

I broke my laptop, by studying no less. Anyone have any ideas to do with it. The specific problem is that the charge port is completely shot, and I dont really have funding to get it repaired.

What type of laptop is it? And what (if you know) caused the power port not to work anymore?

Found this but they mostly involve disassembly and soldering.

Your description is insufficient.

For starters try calling the tech support of your laptop brand and see if that gets you anywhere.

Even if you don't have warranty coverage, you ought to find a manual with good diagrams and photos of your laptop freely accessible on their web site. See if the company may also have a forum where other owners of your same model discuss how to troubleshoot your problem.

For anyone to help you here you'll want to describe your laptop brand & model, how the problem first occurred, and eleaborate a lot more fully on what you mean by "the charge port is completely shot"

Are you talking about the physical connection on the laptop which the wall cord plugs into? Or is it the connection on the power recharging cord itself that's bad? In general please say a lot more.

Was there a noticeable event like a zap sound or visible sparking or light flash or flame? Was it dropped or did you spill liquid on it or something that might have caused your problem? Explain more.

Can you boot at all?

I dont really have funding to get it repaired
If you can pinpoint the exact problem, perhaps with help found in online diagrams, there's a possibility you can buy a part and fix it yourself inexpensively. Or see if your schoolhas any tech support for students that might help you diagnose the problem and/or guide you in repair.

The charge port broke off completely thats as sufficient as the info I can give. So, no it cant boot unless i can get the battery charged.

Usually, that is the result of someone tripping over the power cord when connected, or attempting to move the laptop forgetting it is connected. That repair requires a case repair. The charge port is internal and can't "break off" unless some force is applied to the power card when connected.

quite often, the cheapest repair is to find a used case for sale on E-Bay and swap cases.

Without seeing a photo of the damage it is hard to tell
what is needed for repair. But from the way the op
described the damage, it sounds like the laptop fell to
the floor or tabletop landing on the power plug. If that
was the case, the jack is very likely broken on circuit
board and maybe even a trace or two will need some
patching, along with a new jack.

take it to your local tv repairman.
They should be able to fix it for $30-45, unless the motherboard's pcb is broken
