broken hdd

i have a western digital 500 gb and i've beeh using it in my computer for about 3 months then today when i tryed to boot i get the error message (stop: c0000221 bad image checksum).i never got this before .the hdd has all my info on it.i would like to save it.help

That might be a corrupt system file. What OS are you using? Do you have the installation disc?

Run CHKDSK on that drive,

i am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit,yes i have the installayion disk.

You can try Startup Repair using the Win 7 disk.

You will need to change the boot order in the BIOS so your DVD drive is first.

make sure your mobo didn't revert back to IDE from AHCI.

go to WD site and download their software to scan the drive.
