Broken cpu lowering arm...

Ended up breaking the chintzy plastic cpu lowering arm on an MSI K7T Turbo right out of the box! 😱 Specifically, the front half of the lowering arm broke, leaving the back half of the arm intact... so it still seems to work fine. But it kinda bugs me...

Anyone know if these are easy to replace... and, if so, where to get the necessary part?
 
Should work fine. I suggest u leave it. Super glue indeed is a good solution...but just use little coz u don wan the glue to stick to the mobo.

Lucky you! Mine came with a white plastic arm. :|
 
The arm "locks down" the CPU. As it reaches the bottom of it's travel, it slips under the little tab on the side of the CPU socket, effectively locking the arm in the down position, preventing the arm from coming up, releasing the CPU, and allowing it to fall out.

This is just guesswork/imagination/visualization on my part but; all HSF's cover the entire socket, right? Imagine during normal use, the case gets bumped, the arm tries to come up, but can rise up above the top of the socket. Why? B/C the HSF is sitting there, that's why.

I say forget the superglue. You'll be fine. Just push the arm all the way down and let the HSF hold the arm down. The CPU pins aren't released unless the arm is at the 90-degree position anyway.
