Broke my zune

Do i need to send it to MS or could i order a new glass screen and replace it myself? The display works just fine.

It'd be best if you got MS to repair it, but if you have the skills and patience, you could do it yourself.

I had a friend who prove the screen on his PVP and replaced it himself.

After taking the sceen off, You'd just push out the glass, remove it.

I'm not sure where you'll get a replacement piece of glass, amybe call Microsoft and see if you can order one?

Well you'll probably void the warranty if you open it yourself, but it may already be voided anyway. Not sure if MS would let you keep the warranty if you had them repair it or if the price they would charge would even be worth it.

I'm fairly sure they'd quote abuse because of the drop directly causing the crack. Warranty may be of no use here.

I'd be surprised if it wasn't cheaper, once you consider the time cost, to just buy a new one - especially if this is a Zune 30.

It's a zune 80 - i cant imagine a screen would cost more than $30, i just dont know where to look

I replaced the screen on my iPhone after the LCD died. It wasn't too bad - it took less than 3 hours. And it was only that long because I had to completely remove the LCD by threading all the wires through the main body... The glass wouldn't have taken anywhere near that long.

As mwmorph said, the glass being broken voided the warranty for repair... I'm sure it would be a lot cheaper to do it yourself.

There's a lot of Zune screens on Ebay, but they appear to be selling the LCD. With the iPhone, if you buy an LCD, you get the glass included, but I know nothing about Zunes, so I don't know if this really is just the LCD...
