Broke my Windows 2000 CD......is my hopeful next step allowable?

Well someway or another my Windows 2000 Pro CD got broken. A pic can be seen HERE. I still have the original CD key that came with the OS but like a true newb I never made a backup copy 🙁 😱 🙁

Is it "allowable" per the license agreement to get (either via freebie or purchase) a copy of the same version (Windows 2000 Pro with SP4) from a member and use my own CD Key when needed ?

If so can anyone help me out.....

It is no problem per se. As long as your cd-key and license are valid, I don't see any problems. No money can change hands, but someone giving you a backup copy of software that you have a legal license for shouldn't be either a legal or moral problem. This all changes if a cd-key changes hands 🙂

frankly, since you baught the license, i think you can legally download a copy and use your own key. MS doesn't give crap about the CD.

Yeah, just download a copy. It's not like M$ will come after you. And even if they did just show them your broken cd. But really though, I highly doubt it's even illegal since you own a license.
