I use a Yoga 14 with the i5-5200U CPU, 8GB DDR3, 240 SSD from Aireye.

Will I see a decrease in performance if I were to jump to an i3 7100U KabyLake processor on a newer device?

I'm aware it may be too early to tell, just looking for raw number comparison.

There is also the matter of better video codec support - considering we are talking about an ultraportable - the improved hardware video decode for HEVC (4k capable movie services such as Netflix) and VP9 (YoutTube) will have a significant impact on battery life. This alone should make the switch worth it, especially with your current system still holding trade value.

Generally the system will feel more responsive (this should be visible in battery mode), if the new device has comparable build as your current Yoga you should expect less noise and improved better battery life as long as OEM did it's job properly.
