Broadwell help?

Around here (Utah), we like to take electronics that have disappointed us out to the west desert with a shotgun or other firearm.

That's what I would recommend.

I'll be honest, the best luck i've had lately has been with ASRock Intel boards. Great bios, stable, and a nice selection of boards.

My personal system has been rock solid for almost 2 years with my ASRock Z97 board.

Currently i'd recommend ASRock and MSI as my top 2. Gigabyte boards have gone downhill lately as i've had a few DOA and even more with bad ram slots. Replacing them with ASRock and MSI boards has always cured the issues.

I use to be an Asus and Gigabyte only fanboy and to be fair, Asus hasn't personally let me down yet and whilst I did have some issues with one Gigabyte system, my own lack of technical ability may have been the biggest issue here. :D

But yeah, ASRock has definitely moved onto my radar.

Broadwell C requires so little power and Z97 doesn't dissipate much heat so the less-than-ideal heatsinks and power delivery AsRock uses aren't so much of an issue. What seems to be more important is BIOS quality. I have also heard good things about AsRock with Broadwell C.

The key is to get a board that has separate EDRAM control so you don't go over 2000 with it or it will limit your overclock.

Seems to me that it would be best to find someone with a good Broadwell-C overclock and imitate them. I only know of a few rare examples of people that have OCed and tried to use the iGPU though. And really, fugger is the only one that comes to mind immediately.

I can't recommend ASRock at the moment. I'm rocking the Z97 Extreme9 on the newest BIOS and I can't overclock the i7-5775C with it. I can set everything up in the BIOS, but it actually doesn't change anything and the processor will downclock to stay within it's 65W limit. The only way to overclock on that board is via the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility. ASRock support wasn't really helpful, because they simply don't understand my problem...on the Forums they have different Z97 boards with the same issues and their problems have been solved with newer BIOS update. No luck for me though, so ASRock is trial and error.

Zero intention to overclock; just want to run it at stock.

Sorry to hear it. Could you please upgrade the BIOS to the latest BIOS again 2702?
Also, could you make sure, in the BIOS, go to Advanced -> Graphic Configuration -> Primary Display -> CPU Graphic?
If you install the latest VIdeo driver and it still no go, I advise you to replace the CPU.
Could you please test using another CPU and see if the MB is posting again?

After installing 2401, the board simply would not POST again, either with the 5775c or the spare i3-4130 that I have lying around.

No worries, though, I have a replacement board on the way!

ASRock is fine unless you need special attention. My two support questions haven't been answered yet (one is 2 weeks old now, except for acknowledging that they have received it). I'd say Gigabyte/MSI have been the best in this department as of late, in my situation at least.

It was likely just your board, as many other Sabertooth users are running Broadwell-C.

ASRock has been my go to for a while. The funny thing they were spun off from ASUS, and then ASUS bought them back when they became popular.
