Broadway tickets *POLL*

I want to take my certain someone to see a broadway show that she really wants to see for christmas, but the prices on ticketmaster.com are a little bit rediculous. After some looking around, I found 3 possibilities:

dec 19 - rear center mezzanine - $50 per ticket
dec 19 - front right orchestra - $95 per ticket
jan 8 - front center orchestra (4th row) - $100 per ticket

I'm not sure if I want to drop the extra $100 for good seats if it doesn't really matter. But, I dont want to seem like a cheapass and get crappy seats. She really wants to see this show and I want to make sure she has a great time. So... help me decide!

I'd go for the $95 tickets because it's before the holiday. Personally, I prefer front center mezzanine over front orchestra. The view is usually better.

which show? Some shows have student/rush tickets where they sell for cheap an hour or two before curtain.

go on a weekday and stand in line during the day of the show at TKTS in times square. i've always gotten a great deal there. half price tix, but of course for same day show.

RENT

I dont want to do the same day ticket thing because I dont want to risk not getting the tickets. It's a christmas present AND she's dying to see it, if I do the same day thing and don't get the tickets... blood will be spilled 🙁

I'm looking for front mezzanine tickets right now, but no luck 🙁

I've seen RENT -- it's not that good. And the show is old enough to likely not be selling in the half price TKTS line. But if she is already expecting it I guess that's what you gotta get.

I voted for forget broadway. Blue man group is cheaper and better. 🙂 Warning: raincoats are issued to those sitting in the first 6 rows because you will likely get painted.

Lol! Blue Man Group vs. Broadway. Priceless. I'd go for the Dec. 19th show as someone else suggested. It's before the holiday and the view should be fine from anywhere in the orchestra depending on the theater. I've also seen Rent and enjoyed it. The Blue Man Group. Hehe.

Eh... I talked to her last night and she REALLY wants to go see RENT, so... no blue man group =

the question is... which is better, rear mezzanine or front orchestra?

I've come to learn something over the years: front row/very close seats are invaluable to a memorable show experience, whether it's a concert, musical, NBA game or most any other kind of show. I'll gladly pay a premium price for premium seats. When I have to sit far away I just don't enjoy it as much.

ORCHESTRA.

ORCHESTRA.

ORCHESTRA.

i saw rent in the orchestra (i was maybe 10 rows back from the stage) and it was great. i could see all the actors and their facial expressions. if she wants to see it that badly, you must get these seats so she'll have a memorable experience.

front right wouldn't be that bad, as long as you know where the seats are. i'm not sure which theater this is so i can't comment on the exact seating arrangement. try to look at the views of the seats before purchasing.
