I need broadband, I can't get DSL, I can't get RoadRunner. I may be interested in something thats more expensive PROVIDED that I can share this with some friends over the phone lines (via dsl routers).
OR, is there an RR package that allows you to share a connection at a premium price? I mean I can get 10-15 guys in on thios and if its 400/month that would be ~$35 a month which I can handle. Anyone have some info? Thanks in advance.

Maybe a T1 line running to your house then provide all of your neighbors with a connection for so much a month.

I believe the was a 100mbit service that is provided at major cities that is offered at very reasonable rates (ie, splitting it so that you get the same speed as cable will cost less per user) but since it is only in major cities I assume you wont be able to get it. Anyone have the url?

Is T1 restrictive? As in, will they allow you to connect many computers over a WAN to it, and they won't be bothered?
I'm about 45 minutes from Rochester, so I'm guessing 100Mb isn't coming around anytime soon. I'm not exactly in hicksville either. More like 'the land of the dish' so Time-Warner has never bothered to instal their cable lines through our street. That and I'm WAAAAY out of DSL range (about 12 miles from CO) although they do support it locally.

A T1 is unrestricted. But since it is mostly for business, be prepared to pay around 1000$ (dont know the exact rates).

You could try starband.com (two way satellite)... $70 a month is a bit steep and the $500 equipment fees are really high, but for most of us, it's the only alternative.

I'm stuck with no cable, no DSL, and no 56k dialup even...I get 24kbps on a good day. Still haven't been able to pry open my wallet for starband though.

DirecPC just introduced two way satellite as well so maybe prices will come down.

I'm even lower than you Mr. Diggler. I get 21.6 on a good day, if I ever reach 24k its so unstable that it craps out in 5 minutes; Furthermore, I'm stuck on netzero which slows me down even more.
