Ive just got broadband today, and i need some problems sorting. Basically, it says i can connect using USB or Ethernet. Now i need to connect on USB, becuase i have a network and only one network card. When i set it up (it has a self installer program) on the ethernet cable, it works fine. When i try setting it up using USB, it says it cannot connect and says

"Cannot renew the i.p for the network adaptor (DHCP)"

Thsi is everytime i try doing setup with USB. I got it to work earlier, but i formatted my computer and reinstalled, but now it will only let ethernet work.

Any ideas whats wrong?

Why not just get a router and connect through that? Then you could share the connection with all of your computers.

Did you unplug and then plug the modem back in to allow it to reset after swapping from one connection to the other?

USB is a ?Bad? solution for Internet connection for more than One Computer, use Ethernet.

Link to: AnandTech - FAQ. Basic Options for Internet Connection Sharing

Link to: AnandTech - FAQ. Hubs, routers, switches, DSL, LANs, WANs...?

Ignore the prices in the links above. The same or similar hardware can be found for 60%-90% less.

Link to: Diagram of Broadband Connection with Cable/DSL Router.

Example for a Router: 4 Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router - $7.99 after Reabte.

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Setting and Sharing.

well the thing is. When im using ethernet the speed for my 750k connection is a lot slower than if i use USB. Before i was downloading at about 140kb/s using USb and on ethernet it was only around 70kb/s. Thats why i need on USB. Ive tried power cycling, formatting, system restore, manually installing it. Everything. I just cant seem to get it to use USB.
