I've seen this question asked around quite a bit, and never got any conclusive answers surrounding the actual percentage of bros who actually lift.

So, do you, you know, lift?

I'd be much surprised if it's 10% of this population.
 
When I was in Job Corp I'd go lift every day after dinner. But I don't own any weights currently, so no, I don't lift. I would like to again. Perhaps when I get the basement cleaned out I'll buy some weights and a table.
 
I did for (relatively short) periods of time in years past. I tried to again recently but it didn't last long. I'd much rather just gain some damn weight, and lifting is just gonna burn more calories which I don't need right now. So for the past few weeks I've been doing around 90-115 push-ups a day, that's it.
 
I took weightlifting in my senior year of high school, what does that get me?

A decade ago I was told that eventually my metabolism would crash and I'd blow up but I'm still around 190 pounds; I'M NOT A PART OF YOUR SYSTEM.
 
I just lifted a cinnamon roll several times today.

It must be working, because it felt lighter and lighter as I did more reps.

2 or 3 times a week I lift. Mostly Olympic lifts and stuff that retard body builders wouldn't consider lifting.
 
If you don't have the metabolism for it, it's difficult to gain any serious muscle mass just by lifting. That was true for me anyway. I worked out off an on for years and made very little progress. Plus my recovery time was several days. The only time I made any progress was when I started taking supplements that had some structural similarities to steroids. Then my recovery time went down to around 24-36 hours and it was rare that I had more than a few workouts in a row where I didn't make at least some progress.

The problem though was that it really screwed up my moods. I already had some anger issues and this just made it worse. Also, lifting made me ravenous so I was gaining about as much in fat as I was in muscle. Once I got to the point where I could lift the entire stack on a few of the machines, I decided it was time to quit. It just wasn't worth it any more.
 
no option of "if you can't bench your weight 10 times in a row or do 10 pull-ups you're an oxygen thief"?

Wouldn't say I "lift", but about 2x a week I'll incorporate some machines at the gym just to get a little full body workout going. I like running better myself so I usually do 15-30 miles a week.
 
I don't do work that doesn't accomplish anything. I'm thinking about building some stone walls in the backyard, and I'll lift when I collect, and place the rocks.

it's not difficult at all if you know wtf you are doing. it just takes hard work and knowledge of how to do it. clearly you didn't know what you were doing. many people do.

i went from 180lbs to 200lbs in about 4 months one winter. people at my gym thought i was doing steroids but all i was doing was eating like a mofo (properly) and taking creatine.

OP there are clearly people on this forum who lift, but if you want a serious discussion about it go to the HAF forum instead of OT. when you try to do it in here you have just a bunch of people who have no clue wtf they are talking about and people who think that anyone with muscles must be on steroids.
