The Britney Spears death watch may be over.

Radio Station 95.5-FM DJ Big Boy on Tuesday night announced a $1,000 prize to the person who accurately picked the day the pop wreck would kill herself after losing custody of her children.

The contest was advertised on Big Boy's page on the station's Web site until about 9:45 a.m. today and then was removed. The early-morning "Mojo in the Morning" show fielded calls from irate listeners about the contest.

The contest comes as activists gear up for Sunday's Out of the Darkness walk at Kensington Park in Milford to prevent suicide. The event is promoted on Mojo's page on the station's Web site, including a link to donate money.

A judge ordered Spears to temporarily surrender custody of her sons to their father, Kevin Federline, according to the Associated Press. Spears and Federline are due back in court today, the Associated Press reported.

On Big Boy's The Unit page, a blinking skull and crossbones directed visitors to the Britney Death Poll. Three people left comments after the poll was posted. Two called the contest sick; the other said he will never listen to Big Boy's show again.

Big Boy and station officials were unavailable for comment this morning. An announcement about the poll is to be made on Big Boy's show at 7 p.m. today, according to a station producer.

That's pretty callous to offer a prize if a troubled girl kills herself. If ratings are what matters, I'm sure they'd skyrocket on the scheduling and execution of bigboy's own suicide. For that matter, advanced scheduling isn't a requirement imo.
