Relationships that are intended to last are not granted equal status.
Many homosexual couples have relationships that last longer are are much more serious than heterosexual celebrities, yet the government refuses to allow equal protection within that relationship.

Example; Social Security, Income taxes, Insurance coverage, legal issues.
