British Open Golf thread

I might be a bit biased considering I attended the 2007 Open Championship at Carnoustie, but really, there is no better entertainment value in a golf tournament than the Open.

Let's see .... Tiger might miss the cut, a 60 year old is one shot off the lead, and everything is massively influenced by the weather.

Links golf FTW!

Incidentally, I just recently bought the same clubs as Lucas Glover uses, and they are wicked. Nike CCi forged irons. 2-iron is on its way.

And the other TW ... Tom Watson is back atop the leaderboard at -5 after a bomb on 18. Fantastic.

just watched a bit on tsn.ca...

(shot 85 last night... 2 doubles and 1 bird, and the rest bogeys and pars... i'll take it!)

WOW! Tiger is at +7. He ain't making the cut, it's impossible for him now. He and David Duval are at +6 for the day. Sergio is hanging around at -1.

Check out his score card. Double Bogey at 10 and 13.

Nice ... always good to throw a birdie in there to mitigate the damn doubles. I've got brand new sticks from 3 --> LW, and I'm going to go out tomorrow morning for my first round with them. Looking forward to it!

nothing more exciting than trying out new gear. enjoy!

Yeah ... my wife came home yesterday with the two wedges I've been coveting for a while. Now I just need to update my Hybrid, driver and three wood ... oh yeah, and my putter 🙂 First time in 10+ years the irons have been updated, so I'm looking forward to a bit more distance on some of the irons.

There is still a par 5 coming up, but he needs another birdie on another hole, so not looking good.

Yeah, didn't notice the projected cut was +4. He didn't do so well on the finishing holes yesterday in the best scoring conditions. Don't see him making it. So it's possible for him to make the cut, but highly unlikely.

Listening to the editor of Golf Magazine yesterday he said tiger is flat out trying too hard. Forcing his swing, etc.

I love watching the Open though ... tough courses, requires great creativity ... and I'll admit, I like watching the best players in the world have to work for par rather than a birdie binge.

Tiger for a birdie ... yes. +6 ... now an eagle on the 17th would be a huge roar from the crowd, and a huge sigh of relief for the telecasters.

crud, you're right. I was skimming the scoreboard so fast I was looking at his score today, not total. Needs to get two strokes on the last two holes.

Looks like a birdie on 17 for Woods as well to +5. Interesting to see what he'll do on 18, and what'll happen if a few more drop some shots coming in he still might make the cut.

Stepped out for lunch, and missed Tiger's birdie attempt on 18 ... however, just watched the highlights. I'm cranking myself up to get up bright and early the next couple of mornings to watch some live golf 🙂

Tiger misses the Cut and my favorite white trash golfer John Daly is tied for 22nd at Even par.

Congrats to big John!

Yeah, Daly has really mad a showing this year.
