Of all the things to laud in Britain's long history, the director of the opening ceremonies for the London Olympics chose for his second act ... universal health care.

Yes, that "NHS" spelled out by hospital beds in Friday's opening ceremonies stands for Britain's National Health Service – the government-run universal health-care system that director Danny Boyle called an "amazing thing to celebrate."

"One of the reasons we put the NHS in the show is that everyone is aware of how important the NHS is to everybody in this country," he said at a press conference earlier in the day. "One of the core values of our society is that it doesn't matter who you are, you will get treated the same in terms of health care."

Pssst... sarcasm. The article linked is questioning it as though it was done intentionally to take a swipe at the U.S. health system, as if anyone else in the world gives enough of a shit about the U.S. health system to orchestrate such an elaborate jab.

People take the right to let other Americans die for lack of health care very seriously in America.
We all know that socialized medicine is a failure and that the NHS has been awful for Britain. The deliberate killings of sick people to save money is the model for US death panels.

Europe DID have two World Wars. Their political structure is not as peaceful as the USA's That is a "Jab" at England and others.

Have a read of Phantoms in the Snow. Excellend study of the use of U.S. health Care by Canadians. Or should I say lack of use.

Edit: Nevermind. While searching for a good link to the study I found an article about it that the pie chart you posted came from!
