Brightness fluctuating on DVD player...

I'm relatively new to DVD players. My $99 player I just picked up from Sam's works great except that I notice that the brightness level shifts up and down seemingly arbitrarily. I've tried setting the FL display at bright, medium and dim with no apparent effect.

anyone familiar with this phenomenon? causes? solutions? deep thoughts? inklings? star trek trivia?

You've got it hooked up through your VCR? 😀

Macrovision copy protection is the probable cause. Connect straight to the TV to fix it.

I think its so cool that everytime I have a question I seem to find the answer on the FIRST PAGE🙂. I too have a Costco special(Toshiba) DVD player that had the same problem. Is there a better way of hooking it up without getting a RCA switcher?!?!?! Thanx guys...

If the DVD goes through the VCR, Macrovision will ruin it; the VCR is the target of the protection. Any other way you hook it up is fine.

In a word, no. Plus, if you get an RF converter it will seriously degrade the quality thereby negating the benefits of a dvd player in the first place. You need to break down and buy a TV that has a/v jacks.
