heh... I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just flutter my brights until the asshat passes me, or I let the asshat pass and then turn on my brights.

Don't like em. ESPECIALLY on big SUV's and trucks which put the lights at about eye level for anyone in a car.

All vehicles should have their headlamps aimed to the same distance, meaning that SUVs have their headlamps aimed at a great angle downwards from the factory. I have never, not once, been blinded by a factory HID and I drive a very small and low car.

I've got a 2004 Acura TL with projector HID's that will blind you any time I take on a passenger or two in the back seat. My previous car, an Audi S4, had self-leveling HID's and I believe this is a requirement for HID's in most European countries. Never once did someone flash me their brights, telling me that I was blinding them when driving the Audi, happens all the time with the Acura though......bums me out......

Being blinded by HID's is oh so simple to avoid: For oncoming light, simply don't look at it! Keep your eyes focused in the center of your headlight pattern, makes all the difference in the world.

I have factory HIDs and I've never gotten flashed... I dunno. Maybe you should re-aim them a degree or so lower.

my position is that if they don't come on your car from the factory, you shouldn't have them.

the cheapo xenons from mfr like chevy / toyota is the main reason ppl hate these ... go for Xenon Adaptive Headlights with dynamic auto-leveling and notice the difference ...

They are very bright, and they do dazzle, if incorrectly aligned.

Thankfully in Europe, this isn't really much of a problem - I've driven past plenty of Lexuses with HIDs without concern. The major difference is that it is a legal requirement in Europe that HID headlights be automatically self-levelling. Similarly, retro-fitting HIDs to an older car is illegal - and would a car should fail its annual inspection if non-approved bulbs are fitted.

i've never been blinded by any set of headlights, i think anyone who claims they have is overly sensitive.

I don't know. What I know is that there are asshats out there with blinding misaligned lights... or maybe it's just that the lights are too bright. Personally, I think we should be allowed to shoot out the lights that bother us. Then, statistics of which ones get shot out the most should answer the question.

The problem isn't the lights, it's idiots who don't follow the proper aiming procedure.
