I always thought it was: [drumroll please...]

enlightenment

1 : the act or means of enlightening : the state of being enlightened
2 capitalized : a philosophic movement of the 18th century marked by a rejection of traditional social, religious, and political ideas and an emphasis on rationalism
3 Buddhism : a final blessed state marked by the absence of desire or suffering

Why else would the guy be so open to discussion after seeing it?

I knew a girl obsessed with this movie... She thought it was a soul too.

The very idea of having a "soul" in a suitcase.... how utterly ridiculous. People are so stupid.

No, the band-aid is there because he cut himself on the set.

It is rumoured to be his soul, no one knows.
