Bridging a Netgear MR814 and a WRT54G with Netgear as an access point?

Optimally what I'd like to do is use the MR814v2 (B) as an AP for a media PC in my living room and connect that to a Linksys WRT54G (G) that has my internet connection. I know that with the WRT54G I can use that as an Access Point, but it would only run at B speeds, so obviously, I want the Netgear B router as the AP. From researching this issue, it appears that it is possible to do, but haven't quite found out how. Also, is there truth to the myth that having a B connection anywhere on your G netowkr makes everything run at B speeds?

Thanks.
