In April 2001, Satnam (Sam) Parmar, a 38-year-old drugstore supervisor, went to India to visit relatives. Family members there arranged for him to meet Karmjeet Jaswal, an elementary school teacher.

Their four-day courtship ended in a marriage proposal and a big wedding with 200 guests. Parmar, who looked forward to married life and children, returned to Edmonton, while his new wife began the immigration process.

A year later, when her visa was finally processed, Parmar met Jaswal at the Edmonton International Airport with chocolates and a bouquet of flowers.

But at the luggage carousel, Jaswal told him her true reasons for marrying. She said she never loved him and she wouldn't consummate their marriage.

Kind of funny, but what do you deserve for a 4 day courtship?

sad, but it happens. I hear from my INdian friends how their friends (girls) are forced to marry fobby indian guys.. while the girls cheat behind the guys back.

I happen to personally know of a very sad case where the guy became so angry when his mail ordered bride told him she was in loved with someone back home that he beat her up. He was arrested, charged and sentenced to a two years prison term. While in prison the Canadian Government proceeded to deport him back to his native country. Ironically the woman was allowed to stay in Canada.

This is much more common than many of you may think. People in the US who can't get any 😉 go back to India for brides who'll happily accept marriage to come to the US.

I know of one case where the girl was very conservative in India, but as soon as she stepped foot in the US, it was miniskirts galore and a big F you (figuratively, not literally) to her husband.

It's hard to find a respectable Indian girl these days, either here or back home. People in India don't want to learn any of the good things about the American way of life, only the bad stuff.

I actually work with someone whos parents are making her go back to India to be matched with a husband to bring home with her. She says she doesn't want to do it but has to because her parents would disown her if she didnt.

There's a huge, huge amount of pressure for this kind of thing in the Indian culture.

Just tell her to tell her parents to "go eat a cow" .... 😛

Can wives sue husband for rape? IIRC there is (or was) a law in texas that basically said wives were mens sexual property and couldnt refuse.

he should get his moneys worth before they ship her sorry ass back

tough call there.

not really.

She lied to the guy. She only married him to get to the country. She refuses to consummate the marriage. He divorce's her for deceiving him. She should not get citizenship at all.

deport her A$$ back and make her pay for the ticket.
